Northland first-class cricketer Brad Wilson will mark his return to the Northern Knights today due to captain Daniel Flynn being forced to miss the clash against the Central Stags.

The Northern Knights will be without the services of captain Flynn for the crucial Round 6 Plunket Shield match in Whangarei citing personal reasons for his sudden exemption.

Wilson has been recalled into the team to replace Flynn at the top of the order and going off of his form for Northland recently, his selection will no-doubt add some well coveted first-class experience in the wake of Flynn's absence.

BJ Watling will step into the captaincy role for the match.

The Knights will be desperate for a victory after narrowly missing maximum points in the previous two matches.

They presently sit one outright win from the top of the table at the half-way mark of the competition.

Spinner Ish Sodhi is expected to return for the next match after missing two matches with a small fracture on his bowling hand.

The Northern Knights match versus Central Districts begins at 10.30am at Cobham Oval in Whangarei and will run until March 2.
