Poor weather stopped most club cricket in Northland over the weekend.
The first day of the penultimate round of Oxford Trust Two-Day premier cricket was completely washed out as the poor weather decimated the pitches, rendering them unplayable with the lack of sun to dry them out.
Meanwhile the reservegrade T20 competition nearly succumbed to the same fate, with one pool playing no matches.
The group of Onerahi Central, Kamo High, Whangarei Boys High School and WRMK Kerikeri were meant to play at Kerikeri High School but the steady rain denied them the opportunity for points.
WBHS had already defaulted their games to Onerahi and Kamo High.
A disciplined all-round bowling effort had their opponents out for 72 as Darren Goodwin (2 for 10), Cam Dow (2 for 15) and Robbie McPherson (2 for 16) each grabbed a pair of wickets.
In their earlier match they outlasted a tough Onerahi Central-Huanui College (OCHC) for a 17 run win.
Simon Fenwick's 33 led them to 127 for 8 from their overs, setting OCHC a difficult chase.
In reply, Hunter Reid (20) and James Martin (36 not out) did their best to haul in the target but couldn't quite get the job done, falling 17 short of victory.
Meanwhile Bella Homes Northland's match at Kensington Park against Counties-Manukau was also rained out. It was to be their last Fergus Hickey match of the season.
