Bella Homes Northland had a tough day out in their latest two junior representative fixtures, with both the Primary Boys and Secondary Girls going down.

The Primary Boys went into their match against Waikato Valley in third place with three wins and a loss and started the clash in imposing fashion.

Waikato Valley were reeling at 53/5 at the 17 over mark after Nathan Condon (4-19) ripped out their top order.

Northland let Waikato Valley consolidate their innings through James Wakelin (48) and Ethan Price (32), which helped them to a total of 161/9 off their 40 overs.

Cole Jakicevich-Roberts helped stem the run rate near the end of the innings with two late wickets.

Northland hadn't been required to score more than 150 during the competition and it showed as they struggled to maintain the required run rate and keep wickets in hand.

This was despite the big effort from Condon, who backed up his four wickets with a well made 55, and contributions from Jakicevich-Roberts (20), Ben Litchfield (16) and Sam Lints (15).

Logan Tindall (3-21) was the pick of the Waikato Valley attack as Northland were dismissed for 142 in the last over, 19 runs short of their target.

Northland finished the tournament in fourth position behind Hamilton Gold, Bay of Plenty Coastlands and Waikato Valley.

Meanwhile, the Secondary Schoolgirls side went down in their first match of the Northern Districts T20 competition.

After a bye in the first round of the day, Northland took on Poverty Bay in Tauranga.

Electing to bowl first, Northland kept it tight early as all the bowlers got in on the action.

Brooke Golightly (2-4), Tia Saunders (2-6), Jade Litchfield (2-7) and Charlie Green (2-16) each took a brace while Meegan Soulsby and Liv Potter picked up the other two as Poverty Bay were all out for 77.

The pitch was proving to be a bowler's paradise and that continued into Northland's innings.

Northland struggled to gain momentum as only Saunders (10) made it into double figures as Poverty Bay took advantage of the bowler-friendly conditions, led by Emma Hayes (2-10).

Northland ultimately fell short by 15 runs.
