Northland's junior cricket programme appears to be in good stead if the Bella Homes Northland Primary Boys side is anything to go by.

After four rounds of the Northern Districts Primary Boys competition, Northland are sitting in third after three wins and a loss.

Northland started their campaign with a four-wicket loss to Hamilton Gold, but once they arrived at Jansen Park in Hamilton, things started to click.

Bay of Plenty Lakelands were the first ones to taste defeat as Northland cantered to a seven-wicket victory.

Bowling first, Northland skittled Lakelands for 129 on the back of an all-round effort from the bowlers. Caleb Beazley led the attack with 3 for 16 and was ably backed up by Cole Jakicevich-Roberts (2 for 5) and Nathan Condon (2 for 21).

Northland rattled off the chase with Sam Lints leading the charge with an unbeaten 64 off 54 balls.

Now rolling, Northland then accounted for Poverty Bay with consummate ease.

Jakicevich-Roberts once again led the bowling attack, taking 4 for 4 as Poverty Bay were all out for just 57 after 22.2 overs.

Northland lost just three wickets in the chase as they secured the seven-wicket win with over 23 overs remaining.

Next up was Hamilton Black, which offered Northland the chance to get a modicum of revenge on Hamilton in general after losing early to their other team.

Bowling first again, Northland limited Hamilton Black's scoring ability through tight bowling.

Opening bowler Jack Bradley had a day out for Northland, picking up a five-wicket haul and ending with figures of 5 for 19 from his seven overs.

Cullen Hilton-Jones (3 for 13) proved a great foil as Hamilton Black were dismissed for 108.

Northland started strong with a 35-run partnership between openers Nick Byles (28) and Nathan Condon.

Condon was then removed for 10, which brought wicketkeeper Lints to the crease.

Lints and Byles put on a further 58 runs and when Lints was dismissed for 38, Northland needed just 16 runs to win.

Despite a small collapse, Northland got home with four wickets and 14.3 overs to go.
