Cricket: Northland Premier T20 final to be a repeat

Onerahi Central and Duracrete Products City have secured final round wins.

Onerahi Central and Duracrete Products City have set up a repeat of last year's final after securing final-round wins in the Northland Premier T20 competition.

City had an eight-wicket win over Kamo while Onerahi romped to a seven-wicket victory over Kaipara Flats.

Whangarei Boys High School grabbed a win in the other match, a seven-wicket result over Westech Automotives Maungakaramea.

Kaipara Flats batted first against a strong Onerahi side and looked to put pressure on but couldn't keep the scoreboard ticking over due to some very accurate bowling.

Kyran Dill top scored with 42 but no one else could get their strike rates up, leaving Kaipara Flats defending 91.

Jarrod Mcleod (2 for 30) led the wicket tally for Onerahi.

In reply Onerahi made short work of the total with Henry Cooper (32 not out) and Fletcher Coutts (29 not out), seeing them to victory with six overs to spare.

Meanwhile Stacey Hyndman led City with a top all-round performance against Kamo.

Kamo were skittled for 52 with Ben Hyde (21) the only real resistance to City's attack.

Hyndman grabbed three for nine from his four overs, including two maidens, while Kieran Nelson (2 for 12) and Harry Darkins (2 for 21) chipped in a pair each.

Hyndman then hit an unbeaten 35 to knock off the mark with nine overs and eight wickets spare.

Onerahi and City went through round robin unbeaten after the first two games were rained out.

WBHS picked up a solid win to secure third on the ladder when they took on Maungakaramea.

Hamish Kidd's 52 helped Maungakaramea post 113 for six from their allotment with Caleb Boswell-Smith (2 for 18) and Sam Webb (2 for 21).

Maungakaramea toiled hard in the field with Ian Wallace's (2 for 10) bowling miserly.

But 34 from Lewis Miller and 64 not out from Cullen Lowe, which including six fours and a pair of sixes, steered the schoolboys home with 14 balls remaining.

Meanwhile in reserve grade Kerikeri, City and Onerahi all picked up victories in the 40-over competition.

City beat Kamo High in a high-scoring affair. Kamo High, led by a patient 83 from Nathan Parkes and helped by Max Turner (28) and Geoff Parker (24), put on 190 for seven from their overs.

Robbie McPherson was the pick of the attack with two for 42.

City capitalised on some loose bowling from one of the better sides in the competition with Reagan Radford (50) and Bruce Kessell (50 not out) leading them home with just under nine overs left.

Meanwhile Kerikeri grabbed a seven-wicket win over Maungakaramea.

Multiple batsmen got starts for Maungakaramea but no one scored more than 25 as they set Kerikeri a target of 151.

Jasmeet Singh (3 for 18) and Manik Fernando (2 for 19) got breakthroughs at regular intervals to halt Maungakaramea's progress.

Kerikeri chased down the target comfortably as an unbeaten 78 from Luke Pille and support from Oscar McCallion (25) and Alex Poore (21 not out) got them the result.
