While Bella Homes Northland performed well as a unit at the Northern Districts Primary Boys Tournament at Hamilton's Jansen Park last week, there were a few standout efforts from individual players.
Sam Lints topped the run-scoring charts with Nathan Condon not too far behind, while Cole Jakicevich-Roberts ranked highly inthe wicket-takers' standings at the 40-over tournament.
Averaging 39.50, Lints led the way with bat in hand. He had a top score of 64 not out as he hit 158 runs at an impressive strike rate of a tick over 84.
Meanwhile Condon proved he was no slouch with the bat by hitting two 50s on his way to 145 runs at an average of 29.
While scoring at a more sedated rate than Lints (strike rate of 49 compared to 84), Condon scored valuable runs to help his side to fourth overall in the tournament.
Condon also picked up six relatively inexpensive wickets to showcase his all-round talents.
Jakicevich-Roberts led Northland's bowlers in the wickets column, grabbing nine at a startling average of just over 7. His best figures were four for four.
Jack Bradley (seven) and Caleb Beazley (6) also contributed wickets to a true team effort from Northland.
Condon (second), Lints (sixth) and Jakicevich-Roberts (seventh) were all ranked inside the top 10 for MVP for the tournament, with Lints and Condon making the tournament team.
Northland grabbed three wins to go with their two losses at the tournament, which was won by Hamilton Gold.
