The pitch was laid down in July after two years of fundraising and was christened when a Kamo High composite side had a rain-affected pre-season hit out with Huanui College.
Turner said the way the pitch played was pleasing.
"The track played really well. The ball had good carry through to the keeper and the outfield was quick too," he said.
"The field has great atmosphere, it is really a fantastic little ground."
Next on the agenda is to try and increase the boundary sizes over the next few months.
The square boundaries range from 45-55m while the straight ones are around the 65-70m mark.
There will be plenty of cricket played over the upcoming season on the new pitch which culminates in a Past vs Present match involving top cricketers who used to ply their trade for the school, including former Black Cap wicketkeeper Bryan Young.
