Kamo opener Ben Hyde smashed a century and took three wickets to help Kamo defeat the previously unbeaten Whangarei Boys' High School First XI in the Lion Red Cup.

Batting first, Kamo lost Rhyce Brittain-Clark (8) early off the bowling of Cullen Lowe (1 for 32).

But that wicket brought Dylan Clark to the crease and, combined with Hyde, consolidated the innings and frustrated the WBHS bowlers.

Both batsman crossed the half-century mark, combining for 156 runs for the second wicket.

Eventually WBHS ended the 32-over long stand when Matt Kingi (1 for 33) bowled Clark for 58.

Hyde kicked on to make his century and, with the help of Shane Burton (35 not out), got Kamo through to 276 for four in their 50 overs.

Hyde was dismissed in the 48th over for a sublime 135 off 147 balls. The three-hour innings included 19 fours and four sixes.

In reply, WBHS started shakily as they lost two early wickets off the bowling of Warren van Wyk (2 for 26) and Sean Daniels (1 for 31).

Chamodh Peiris (26) and Rory Christopherson (35) managed to make contributions before a three-wicket burst from man of the moment Hyde (3 for 48) left WBHS reeling at 59 for 5.

WBHS' middle and lower order made a game of it as Cullen Lowe (36), Sam Webb (52 not out) and Ian Osbaldiston (31 off 21 balls) all batted well.

But in the end the target of 277 was too much as WBHS fell 30 runs short.

Meanwhile, Onerahi Central had a commanding 115-run away win over Kaipara Flats.

Onerahi Central struggled early as Jack Beaven (2 for 13), Kyran Dill (2 for 33) and Kevin Forde (2 for 13) all grabbed pairs.

Fletcher Coutts made 31 in the middle order but at 140 for 9, Onerahi Central looked like being dismissed for a sub-par total.

However, the final wicket partnership of Tom Herman (62 not out) and Sean Doel (34 not out) combined to put on a vital 91 runs.

Herman hit six boundaries while Doel smashed three fours and a six to see Onerahi Central through to 231 for 9.

Kaipara Flats struggled in their chase with only Forde (43) going beyond 20 runs.

Quick bowlers Rory Anders (4 for 18) and Fletcher Coutts (4 for 34) accounted for most of the order as Kaipara Flats were dismissed for 116.

In the final game Duracrete Products City grabbed a 111-run win over Westech Automotives Maungakaramea to stay as the only unbeaten team in the competition.

City scored 271 in their innings, led by a 145 run partnership between Ian Page (92 off 56) and Harry Darkins (68).

Page smashed five sixes and nine fours in his whirlwind innings.

James Hutchison grabbed four for 47 for Maungakaramea.

In reply, Maungakaramea looked solid as Matt Taylor (55) and Tyler Lortan (35) provided a stable base for the second wicket.

But City showed why they are unbeaten in the competition as a top team effort in the field and three wickets to Kieran Nelson (3 for 32) helped them end Maungakaramea's innings at 160.
