Northland cricketer Henry Cooper has notched consecutive centuries in an English cricket league after his first match was snowed out.

The Onerahi Central and Northland player is featuring in the Huddersfield Cricket League in the 2016 Drakes Premiership.

At the weekend Cooper top-scored for his Broad Oak side, scoring 107 in his team's 236 total.

A week earlier, Broad Oak had taken on Cawthorne at a ground Cooper described as "one of the most scenic I've played at".

"They got 190 batting first with their Indian import scoring a ton. We ended up chasing it 3 down with 17 overs left."

Cooper was unbeaten on 125 off 110 balls.

Broad Oak are top of the table but have a few tough weeks ahead of them.

Cooper is playing at Broad Oak alongside Harvey Booth, who played for Onerahi Central last season. The season has progressed well for Cooper, after a cold start - the first match he was supposed to play was snowed out - a first for the Northlander.

En route to Huddersfield, Cooper played in a 6-aside tournament in Thailand and finished as the competition's top scorer, despite not playing in the final.

Cooper played for Gloucestershire Gypsies who went down to a team of Pakistan first class players in the semifinal.

Batters had to retire at 30 - something Cooper did in each game he played.

Cooper and fellow Northland representative Ben Hyde, from the Kamo Cricket Club, are both in the UK with the assistance of Cobham Cricket Club and the Northland Cricket Association.
