Northland's Henry Cooper made his List A debut for the Northern Districts on his home ground of Cobham Oval as they defeated Wellington by 135 runs in the Ford Trophy.
Cooper has been in sublime form this year, scoring plenty of runs for his club Onerahi Central, Northland and NorthernDistricts A.
The son of former Northern Districts captain and Northland legend Barry Cooper did not have to wait long to get into the action when Wellington removed opener Bharat Popli for a duck.
Cooper batted patiently on his way to 22, scoring three boundaries, before being caught off the bowling of Wellington debutant Iain McPeake (2 for 61).
Northern Districts batted well to reach 285 for 6 with contributions from Dean Brownlie (30), Scott Kuggeleijn (30) and Brett Hampton (35 not out).
