Duracrete Products City are in a prime position to take out the remaining two Premier cricket competitions but will have to fight off some determined opposition.

Just one round remains of both the Lion Red Cup and the Oxford Trust Two Day competitions and City lead the pack in both.

In the Lion Red Cup, City are unbeaten across their four matches and have already booked themselves a finals berth ahead of the final round this weekend.

Westech Automotives Maungakaramea are just behind them and will battle it out with Whangarei Boys' High School for the second finals place - if the weather permits.

Should the likely possibility of rain occur on Saturday, Maungakaramea will make the finals courtesy of having an extra win over WBHS.

Off-spinner Ryan Brown has been their leading wicket-taker with seven across their four matches, while captain Craig Little has managed 134 runs at a good clip.

WBHS' Cullen Lowe has lead the way with the ball in the competition, taking 11 wickets which has included five and four-wicket hauls in two early wins.

Kamo's Ben Hyde leads all run scorers with 197, helped in no part by a sublime 135 against WBHS.

If weather permits WBHS will travel to face Maungakaramea, City will host Kaipara Flats and Kamo will clash with Onerahi Central.

In the Oxford Trust Two Day competition, City require only a draw to win the grade but an outright loss to Onerahi Central could cost them the title.

Onerahi Central put themselves in a less than desirable position with their nail biting loss to Kaipara Flats last week and can only hope for an outright win to take out the competition.

Kaipara Flats, meanwhile, also have a shot if results go their way, needing an outright win over WBHS.

Onerahi Central's Tom Herman and City's Kieran Nelson have led the way with the ball, picking up 18 wickets apiece, while James Thompson has only been dismissed once for City, scoring 340 runs in the process.

Stat leaders:
