While horses race around the track, fashionistas will be racing down the runway bringing glamour to the Ruakaka Racecourse.
Tomorrow's Fashion in the Field event means the game brought by horses is just as important as the game brought by those heading to watch them race.
The annual racing andfashion event also doubles as a fundraiser for the Cancer Society Northland - in memory of past president Dean Logan.
Structured dresses, embroidered playsuits and extravagant hats have featured at previous events and those taking part this year will be in to win the Steve Haywood Master Jeweller Fashions in the Field competition. The supreme winner takes home a prize from Steve Haywood Master Jeweller as well as gaining automatic entry into the Viva Prix de Fashion at Ellerslie in March..
However, if you are more comfortable dressing casually then other entertainment on the day includes an appearance from local actor Reuben Milner who stars as Jack Hannah on Shortland Street, a performance from young Whangarei magician Thomas Hayman, a display by the Classic and Sports Car Club Northland and music by A2Stic.
Gates open at 11 and entry is by gold coin donation with proceeds from gate takings, as well as a portion of all function ticket sales and race sponsorship, going to the Cancer Society.
