Some fashions are timeless and you are never too old to take an interest in the catwalk, as Whangarei's Parihaka Court Rest Home residents showed.

This month the home held an in-house fashion parade during which staff and residents dressed in their finest. The area was decorated in black and red and all who attended put in a lot of effort and staged a great show for the residents, spokeswoman Maryanne Thompson said.

"One staff member dressed up as Granny Clampett (from The Beverley Hillbillies,) it was all a lot of fun, followed by a special afternoon tea.

"Our rest home is a small 25-bed facility and we are family friendly and staff get behind activities/entertainment, and all residents get special one to one care every day. We have a full time diversional therapist who together with the residents design activities around what they like to do, wheelchair walks, van rides, special occasions, arts and craft are to name a just a few."
