Police and other emergency services are at the scene of a car collision in George St, Hikurangi.
One man has been taken to Northland Base Hospital with serious injuries.
Police say It appears that the injured man was working underneath a car which was then hit by another car.
The
incident happened about 1.20 pm and George St, the main street, is closed and the Serious Crash Unit has been called to examine the scene.
Diversions around Hikurangi are in place.
