Flamboyant Whangarei personality Luke Bird is asking for audience members to feather his nest of comedy and music tonight at Bank St Social Club.

"The evening is fun, energetic, live, warm, loud ... If you know the way this bird flies, we don't do anything by halves," Whangarei's multi-purpose talent, an actor, opera singer, comedian and MC, says. "People can expect some of the old and some of the new. It's full of sequins, sequins, sequins and a whole lot of the Birdman."

Fresh from working on a TV series for Maori television, and another, still-secret show on the horizon, Mr Bird is happily splitting his time between Auckland and Whangarei and jumped at the chance to perform at home.

"I'm in Auckland pretty much full time but Whangarei is always always home, my nest is there and those this Bird nests with ... like to spend half the time in Auckland and the rest back home."

Mr Bird said his new show offers some old faithfuls, and some fresh material. He was also writing for an Australian magazine, was "MCing everywhere", working on expanding his clothing line and preparing for a pilgrimage to China.

"If you stop, so does momentum, the trick is to keep momentum moving along with you," Mr Bird said.

Tickets for "Luke Bird" are $30 from event venue Bank St Social Club and the show starts 7pm.
