A spike in burglaries has police urging residents in Kerikeri's Hone Heke Rd area to be extra vigilant about security and to report suspicious behaviour.
There were three incidents last Thursday, starting with an overnight attempt to steal a car from a driveway in Peacock Gardens, then two daytime robberieson Inlet and Hone Heke Rds.
In the first, between 8.30am-1.30pm, a Panasonic TV, laminator and camera were taken after an intruder entered through a lounge window; in the second, between 8.30am-6pm, three laptops, two hard drives and a computer game controller were taken.
"If you see suspicious people hanging around we certainly don't mind coming out and paying them some attention," said Sergeant Phil Le Comte.
