This weekend sees the Open Centre Pairs Championships being played at four venues in the Whangarei area. Fifty-eight teams have entered in sections for men and women. The venues and draw are as follows:

Men at Onerahi: (Skips only) D. Reader, S. Prasad, L. Reader, L. Scott, K. Sidwell, R. Hamlyn, D. Brewster, B. Cleaver, D. Henwood, C. Edmiston, P. Mitchell, R. Heaton, M. Howie, S. Nelson, B. Starkie, G. Gallant.

Men at Kensington: (Skips only) K. Bint, M. Germann, P. Wightman, J. Jamieson, G. Bond, R. Arbon, P. Nicholson, S. Mitchell, C. Claridge, J. Dunn, J. Webb, G. Herbert, L. Thorburn, M. Haslam, N. Franks, J. Van Haaften.

Women at Whangarei: M. Timoti, D. Robinson, S. Rudman, D. Hardie, L. Stewart, M. Parker, P. Mumford, J. Walker, P. Warth, L. Mills, S. Wightman, M. Attwood, C. Griffith, J. Erceg.

Women at Kamo: C. Henwood, A. Muir, D. Owens, A. Bateman, P. Arbon, S. Johnston, E. Van Haaften, L. Jones, S. Ayerst, J. Rutledge, D. Lawrence, S. Wright.

Latest reporting time is 8.30am and play starts at 8.45am. Post-section play for qualifiers will be played at Kensington on Sunday from 8.45am.

Next weekend (November 3-4) sees the Centre Junior Pairs (players 1-5 years) being played. Entries close today. Entries have been slow coming to hand, in particular for the women's division. Please remember that in this event, two players from different clubs can play together.

The Northland Umpires Association wish to advise that their re-accreditation practical examinations will be held next Wednesday, November 1, at the Kensington Bowling Club. This will take place between 1-3pm.

Club open tournaments scheduled for next week are: Tuesday October 31- One Tree Point Men's Triples; Thursday November 2 - Mangawhai Men's Pairs; Friday November 3 - One Tree Pt AC Triples; Saturday November 4 and Sunday November 5 - Onerahi Men's Fours; Saturday November 4 - Mamaranui MX Triples; Saturday/Sunday November 4 and 5 - Centre Junior Open Pairs.

The Chartered Clubs of NZ have their Women's Fours tournament starting in South Auckland on November 13. This event will conclude on November 16. Several teams from the Northland Chartered Clubs are attending this event. In every case the players must also belong to a registered bowling club.

Coming events for Centre: November 18-19 - Centre Fours (Women) Centre Triples (Men); November 25-26 - Centre Triples (Women) and Centre Singles (Men). December 2-3 - Interclub Sevens competition in two divisions will be played.

This event is for men and women and the winners will represent Northland in the NZ finals later in the season. Entry forms have been forwarded to all clubs.
