Interclub 7s:

The race to find the Northland representatives for Interclub 7s competition started last weekend. The winners of both competitions for men and women will represent Northland in the New Zealand finals to be held later in the season. At print time the only first day results that I have received are from the women's division.

This is a tight race and, with six matches to be completed on December 19, the running results are: Kensington A, 18pts; Mangawhai, 15pts; Hikurangi, 15pts; Kensington B, 15pts; Ngunguru, 12pts; Onerahi, 6pts.

What's on:

This weekend (Saturday) sees the year 1-8 representatives from Far North, North Harbour, Auckland and Northland complete the second round of their competition at the Kensington greens.

The 1-5 representatives from the same centres will complete their second round of competition at the Kamo greens.

Both tournaments start at 9am.

Sunday is competition day for open and development mens and womens representative teams when North Harbour, Far North and Northland will have their first hit out of the season, competing against one another at the Whangarei greens.

This tournament also starts at 9am.

It is hoped that the weather will stay good and spectators on both days should be able to watch some outstanding bowls.

Christmas Tournaments:

Next week will see the following clubs holding Christmas tournaments and functions: December 13, Onerahi AC triples; December 14, Mangawhai AC fours; December 15, Kamo men's triples; December 16, Hikurangi AC triples and the Leigh men's triples; December 17, Maungaturoto AC fours. December 19 and 20 will see the final days of the centre interclub 7s and centre pennants; December 20, Ruawai mix drawn triples (single entry).
