Champion of Champions

The Champion of Champions events will be the bowls action of this weekend and the following is the draw for these events:

Men's Pairs at Mangawhai - May 5

Hikurangi, Ngunguru, Kensington and Maungatapere have byes and are to report at 10.15am.

Arapohue, Kamo, Waipu, One Tree Point, Onerahi, Mangawhai, Maungaturoto and Whangarei are to report at 8.15am. Play starts at 8.45am.

One Tree Point, Hikurangi and Arapohue have byes and are to report at 10.15am.

The Northland Coaching Association annual fours tournament will be played at Kamo greens today.

Twenty-six teams have entered and the association is appreciative of the support they have received.

Well done to the Northland players who represented the Northern Region in the New Zealand finals of the Club Championships last week.

Sue Wightman finished third in the singles, Dusty Reader and Steve Smith third in the pairs, the Kaeo combination fifth in the triples, and the Hikurangi women fifth in the fours.

Reminder to all bowlers that the meeting with Bowls New Zealand CEO Mark Cameron and CDO Martin McKenzie will be held at Bowls Whangarei at 4.30pm.

It is important that representatives are present from all clubs as the future of our sport will be covered in the discussions.

The summer season of bowls is almost over and tournaments for next week are as follows: Maungaturoto AC Triples - May 9; Mangawhai Mixed Fours - May 11-13.

The Regional 1-5 Interclub will be held at the Hikurangi greens on May 12 starting at 9am.

Northland Representative will be Mangawhai Men. Winners from Counties Manukau, Auckland, North Harbour, Far North and Northland will be competing for the Mercedes Cup for 2018.

The centre awards and prizegiving will be held at the Kamo Club on Saturday May 26. Meet and greet from 6pm and tickets are available from the Centre Office.
