The Dargaville Veterinary Centre Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, is part of the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series and expected to attract a large crowd of participants.

People can take their pick of a 10.5km or 5km fun run/walk through the main streets of Dargaville along and over the Northern Wairoa. Long-course participants take in the view of the town as they pass up and around the Dargaville Museum.

Because this event focuses on the fun aspect, no times are recorded and only top three male and female finishers from the 10.5km run and 5km run will be acknowledged at prizegiving.

Both event distances start and finish on Victoria St outside the Red Cross Shop.
To increase safety on the course, start times will be staggered. The 5km event will start at 8.30am and the 10.5km at 9am.

Here are some safety tips from the organisers:

The event is on public roads. Treat all roads as open at all times and expect oncoming and overtaking traffic at all times.

Please obey all traffic laws and regulations.

Take extreme care when approaching driveways and side roads – expect vehicles.
Where there is a lane coned for participants, you must remain within the cones at all times.

Marshals will be wearing high-visibility vests and are there for your safety. Follow their instructions and those of the event organisers at all times.

There will be a lead vehicle preceding the first participant and a tail marshal following the last. If assistance is required please stop and wait for the tail marshal, or notify the nearest marshal.

No animals (except guide dogs) are permitted to accompany participants during the event.

Footpaths and footbridges are to be used where available.
