Next weekend will see the first of the Centre Champion of Champion events being held.

The fours will be played on Saturday, April 13, at Whangārei (men) and Kamo (women) with play to start at 8.45am and trial ends to be played before that time.

On April 14th the Champion of Champion singles will be played with the men at Dargaville and the women at Arapohue, with play to start at 8.45am. Clubs are reminded that they must send a marker with their representative.

The draw for both events will be on the Centre website and clubs will be advised.


Entries are fours 14 men's and six women's clubs.

Singles are 13 men's and nine women's clubs will be represented.

The winners of both these events will be eligible to represent Northland in the NZ Champion of Champions.

Players are reminded that the Umpires Association are holding their annual open any combination triples at the Onerahi greens on Tuesday, April 16. Entries to Bruce Scott, phone 435 2512.

Mt Manaia advise that their women's triples scheduled for Monday, April 8, have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Kensington Club missed out on qualifying for the Bowls3Five quarter-finals when they lost the playoff between Riverhead and themselves at Warkworth last Thursday by two games to one. Well done Kensington players on reaching this level of the competition.

Club tournaments for next week are: Tuesday, April 9 - Kamo AC triples, Wednesday, April 10 - Maungaturoto AC triples. Thursday, April 11 - Onerahi AC triples, Friday, April 12 - One Tree Point AC triples. April 13-14: Centre Champion of Champion fours and singles.
