Young Northland squash players have excelled at the North Island Junior Age Groups with three boys from Parua Bay Primary School coming first, second and third in the U13 division.

Northland juniors took a clean sweep of the U13 Boys in the North Island Age Group Juniors last weekend.

Freddie Jameson, Cam Griffin and Flynn Venmore all from the small Manaia Squash Club were first, second and third respectively.

Cam and Flynn both beat higher seeded players in tough five-setters to make it through to the semifinals and play each other, while top seed Freddie comfortably made it through to the final where he faced clubmate Cam. Freddie won the final in three sets.

Freddie and Flynn are cousins. They will all be going to the AIMS Games in Tauranga in September with others from the school.

Eighteen Northland juniors competed in the Wellington tournament and with 180 entries from throughout New Zealand and the glass court erected at Te Rauparaha Arena it was an exciting three days of squash.

There were also some great results in other age groups with Chelsea Traill fourth in the U13 girls, Annmarie Holst fourth in U19 girls and Devlin Gurr, seeded 12th and placing sixth in the U17 boys division.

Other top 10 finishes were Shea Ferguson sixth in U15 girls, Olivia Rhodes sixth in U13 girls, Hayley Rhodes fifth and Montana Vette-Blomquist sixth in U11 girls, Josh Laing, Tane Traill and Zac Laing fifth, sixth and seventh in U11 boys and Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist ninth in the U17 boys.
