Adrenalin junkies are snapping up tickets for Nitro Circus' first visit to Whangarei next January, with a quarter of the tickets bought up in the first two days of going on sale.
Nitro Circus will be in Whangarei for the first time for a performance at Toll Stadium on January 29, the Sunday of the Northland/Auckland Anniversary weekend holiday, as part of a six-date national tour.
Tickets went on sale at 9am on Sunday and by the end of Monday more than 3000 had been sold for the Whangarei date out of the 12,000 available. During the two days 13,000 tickets were sold for the six dates nationally.
Tickets range from $19-$49 for children and $39-$79 for adults and $99 for VIP seats, which include entry into the show an hour before it opens for the general public and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at practice.
There's also a question-and-answer session with the stars, where they will talk about life on the road and answer an array of personal questions.
Rachel O'Gorman from Venues and Events Whangarei, which is hosting the event, said Nitro Circus should bring a good crowd to the city from Northland and Auckland, given it is a holiday weekend.
"We are extremely excited to have secured Nitro Circus for Whangarei for the first time ever as part of the New Zealand 2017 tour.
"This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for extreme sports enthusiasts from across Northland to come along and enjoy some of the best motocross, BMX, skateboarding and crazy stunts in their own backyard," Ms O'Gorman said.
"Being held in the middle of Northland and Auckland Anniversary weekend, there should be a good crowd from across the region and from Auckland so it will be great for the local economy."
