One person is trapped and one lane is blocked following a crash just north of Kaiwaka, police say.
Police said two vehicles have collided with each other about 7pm, just north of Kaiwaka on the passing lanes, leaving one person trapped.
The southbound lane is blocked however one northbound laneis open. Police said traffic is heavy in the area due to the long weekend and drivers are asked to take care as debris are scattered about 100m along the road.
Ambulance and fire crews are on scene and the Serious Crash Unit have been called to the scene.
Police expect the road to be closed for about two hours.
