Two serious crashes on different parts of SH 1 in Northland have trapped and seriously injured at least two people.
A serious crash involving a single car on SH 1 Ruakaka near Prescott Rd trapped and seriously injured a person at about 2pm today. At the time of the crashthe northbound lane was partially blocked.
Shortly after the crash near Prescott Road a car and camper van collided on State Highway One near Oruawharo Rd, north of Te Hana.
A fire communications spokesman said one person is trapped and fire units are working to free the person. Two rescue helicopters were on their way to the scene.
The crash has blocked the southbound side of the road and motorists are being advised to delay their journey or consider using alternative routes.
