Meet candidates
Far North voters will have a chance to meet at least some of their seven mayoral candidates at the Service Club Hall in Kaikohe (behind the RSA) from 7pm tonight. Then, on Wednesday, Focus Paihia is holding a meeting for Paihia candidates standing in the council and community board
elections. That meeting will be held in the Paihia Memorial Hall from 7.30-9pm with Focus Paihia chairman Grant Harnish as the chairman. A wider selection of candidates, including would-be mayors, are expected at a meeting in Opua Hall from 10am on September 15. Seven people are vying for the position of Far North mayor.

More meetings
The Whangarei Heads Citizens Association is holding a 'Meet the Candidates' event at the McLeod Bay Hall on September 26 from 7.30pm. Invited to attend are the Whangarei Heads Ward candidates - Richard Engdahl, Greg Innes, Kim Jones, Pete Ludlow and Brian May; Northland Regional Council coastal central constituency candidates - Paul Dimery, Martin Hunt, Mike Kake, Liz Nelson, Pauline Rose and Vivienne Shepherd.
Also invited to attend to inform voters are Whangarei Mayoral candidates Stuart Bell, Glenn Chapman, Crichton Christie, Vince Cocurullo, Shelley Deeming, Sheryl Mai, Greg Martin, Isopo Samu, Stan Semenoff, Warren Slater, Warwick Syers and Graham Tadman.

Business hosts
The Hikurangi Business Association has organised a meet the candidates event at the Hikurangi War Memorial Hall on September 16 from 7pm.
Whangarei's Mayoral candidates have been invited as well as those standing in the Hikurangi-Coastal Ward - Susy Bretherton, Robert Carpenter, Dave Gundry, Jeroen Jongejans (incumbent), Greg Martin (incumbent), Steve McNally and Ian Peters.
