Armed police were called to a Whananaki address following a domestic dispute yesterday.

Whangarei police spokeswoman Sarah Kennett said police were alerted to the family violence incident at 8.45am.

Cordons were put in place at Whananaki North Rd and Hailes Rd.

When police arrived, the man was arrested without incident, Mrs Kennett said. A 55-year-old man has been charged with threatening to kill and possessing a firearm without a licence, and will appear in Whangarei District Court today.
