The Centre annual awards and prize-giving were held last weekend and it is congratulations to all the winners of events during the season.

The Maungaturoto and Hikurangi clubs were the most successful recipients of prizes with their members winning nine of the Centre events held. Gold Stars for the winning of five Centre titles were awarded to Ian Bowick (Onerahi), John Wintle (Mangawhai) and Kevin Robinson (Maungaturoto) along with gold bars to Betty Mitchell (Hikurangi, 15 titles), Manu Timoti (Hikurangi, 15), Wayne Wrack (Maungaturoto, 15) and Maree Attwood (Kensington, 10).

Coach of the Year: Ann Muir (Kensington); Administrator of the Year: Ashley Gibbs (Mangawhai); Greenkeeper of the Year: Wayne Neil (Mangawhai); Side of the Year: Kevin Robinson and Wayne Wrack (Maungaturoto); Young Player of the Year: Savanna Lauder (Hikurangi); Service to Bowls: Marjorie Larson, (Ngunguru); Club of the Year: Hikurangi; Player of the Year: Betty Mitchell (Hikurangi).

Kamo tournament

The Northland Umpires Association advise that they are holding a winter tournament on July 18 at the Kamo Bowling Club. Play starts at 9.30am and entries are being accepted for an Any Combination Triples by Bruce Scott, phone 4352512.

Northland AGM

Bowls Northland annual meeting was held last Sunday and the following officers have been appointed to serve for the next 12 months: President, Jeanette Yovich; Board members: Maureen Parker, Chris Budge, Des McLean, Gwen Lawson, Dusty Reader, Steve Smith. Thanks of the Centre, for her long service, were extended to Gwen Lawson who is not seeking reappointment as events manager for the coming year. The Centre is asking for "expressions of interest" for the position as Centre events manager and for three positions on the newly appointed high performance panel. Nominations close on July 20.

Club pages for the Centre handbook for 2015-16 season need to be handed into the Centre office by June 30.
