The $5.5m winning Powerball ticket sold at a Whangarei store has been claimed.
Wednesday's winning ticket, which was made up of $5 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division, was sold at the Sunnyside Foodmarket in Kamo, Whangarei.
A spokeswoman for Lotto New Zealand confirmed the
prize has been claimed.
Owners Ketan Patel and his wife Sejai told the Advocate yesterday they usually get a lot of locals in the store on Station Rd.
This win comes just a week after a young couple from the Hibiscus Coast in Auckland won $44million with Powerball First Division on Wednesday - the largest prize ever won in New Zealand.
