Lots of gardeners yearn for a natural pond or stream. Apart from providing water, they open up many landscaping opportunities. But if you don't have either, enjoy creating a faux stream to brighten up any corner of your garden.
This one runs out from under a deck, which adds a convincing
touch.
All you need are a few bags of coloured glass chips, available from garden centres, craft stores and $2 shops.
Mix and match different shades of blue. River stones can be used to line the sides of the stream - they're also available in bags from garden centres and there are several colours available so you can design something that suits your garden and your personal style.
Shells make a focal point, and driftwood is another useful addition.
The edges here have been planted with agave and scleranthus, but you could use grasses or ground covers.
