What could be more summery than a yellow sundress on newly tanned shoulders? It's the stuff of winter daydreams.
The only thing is that at this time of year you're more likely to look at said shoulders and discover they aren't as golden as you would have hoped back in August.
Blame
it on a summer so far made up of on-and-off sunshine - tricky when all these dreamy yellow dresses are looking back from the racks. Many of them are already on special.
No need to turn your back on it all, though.
It's simply a matter of working out what shade of this summer's popular hue you can wear.
If your skin has been hidden from the sun or you're naturally a pale person, you can still wear yellow. Just pick out dark yellows that are closer to mustard.
On the other hand, if you're dark-skinned you'll be able to pull off bright, primary-colour yellow.
If you're somewhere in between, well, there's not much to worry about. You can feel safe wearing the whole range of yellow, especially the hardest shade to wear, pale lemon.
Once you've found the colour that makes your eyes sparkle and skin look radiant you can incorporate it into casual and dressy wardrobes.
Look for yellow tops to pair with short, grey shorts, yellow singlets to keep denim dressed down and, of course, that perfect yellow sundress.
For going out, just look to Madame Hawke and Kingan Jones to see how yellow isn't just for daytime.
Still not convinced? You could always get your yellow fix by way of a yellow print scarf, like the one from Max, strappy, yellow heels or even yellow nail polish.
Whether as a good dose or just a dash, wearing yellow is bound to make your summer brighter.
