I loved that TV show, The Kitchen Job, that up until a couple of weeks ago was on every Tuesday night.
The American restaurateur would go into some typical Kiwi cafe and state the obvious -its food was disgusting, the decor vile and customer service up the creek.
What does a foody telly show have to do with fashion, you ask?
Well, anyone familiar with the show in question will also be familiar with the restaurant critic who was called upon to deliver her verdict once the place had been spruced up.
And every week I would find myself trying not to yell at the box: "Of course that's the secret critic. Look at her - she's fabulous."
It was her glasses that made the look - those cat's-eye frames that gave off such an air of elegance.
In fact, I'm thinking I'll have to invest in a pair of my own.
So retro yet so modern, the feline shape is a hit with plenty of eyewear designers - Dior, Ver Wang, Dolce and Gabbana ...
This style harks back to the prissy 1950s and makes me think of the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe.
I reckon it would be fun to play up on this vintage look by pairing frames with a full skirt - perhaps the latest from Karen Walker.
Then I could let them work their power-dressing magic during the work day, pairing them with blazers and blouses.
I'm getting slightly ahead of myself, though.
Apparently feline shapes suit oval- and heart-shape faces.
They're also worth trying if you have a round face as you could find a cat's eye makes it look longer.
Best to head to your local optometrist and have a play.
The eyes say it all
