I have spent far more time in my pyjamas lately than is really appropriate. With heavy rain passing through, wind that threatened to upend every tree in the garden and nights that have been colder than any other this year, it's been nice to snuggle into my pyjamas, chuck on
my Ugg boots and curl up with the dog under the duvet on the couch.
But there's something singularly unsexy about baggy old flannel pyjama pants teamed with the boyfriend's well-worn rugby shirt. It's supremely comfortable, but too many nights of that and I felt the rugby shirt, and its owner, might make themselves scarce.
Luckily for me, and anyone else feeling the pull of the pyjama dark side, there are some extremely cute and (if you squint hard enough) sexy pyjama sets to get you through winter. Some of them may even stand up to an emergency trip to the supermarket - just make sure you switch the PJ top for a singlet or plain, long-sleeved T-shirt so it's not so glaringly obvious that you haven't bothered to get dressed.
One trend I haven't touched on here but have definitely seen in the shops is the all-in-one. I was unsure about them for daywear and the style does seem more suited to being worn to bed. But while they are cute, comfortable and incredibly warm and easy to wear, in the interest of maintaining relationships around the country, I've opted to exclude them from this week's column (but they can be bought from The Warehouse if you can't be dissuaded).
