Go graphic
Black and white says anything but boring as things get graphic this coming season. If you want to experiment with prints but keep your outfit chic and understated, opt for essential stripes or polka dots, which are just starting to make a huge comeback. Polka dots are fun
and easy to wear - just remember the rule when wearing any busy print, keep the rest of the outfit simple. If you want to create your own rumble in the jungle, the tribal inspired trend meets black and white with lush tunics and tops in zebra stripes and leopard spots. Don't forget to accessorise, a chunky black or white watch will complete your look.
Tantalising textures
We tend to associate black with heavy winter fabrics, but if we look to the runway for inspiration, sheers aren't just reserved for bright and lively colour palettes. Pretty summer dresses don't have to be colourful. Try rocking feminine, floaty maxi dresses in black and white graphic prints with colourful accessories in burnt oranges, yellows and reds. If you're extra daring, layer super sheers over enticing undergarments for a provocative summer look.
Head-to toe
Nothing says elegance in summer like brand new, crisp white sandals. White footwear can be a little intimidating because, if not cared for correctly, the slightest scuff can quickly ruin the appeal of new shoes.
Start caring for your footwear by investing in a good spray protector (this is a must have for all new footwear, not just your bright whites). Match with bronzed legs (done the safe faux way, of course) and you're set. When it comes to the colour black, patent pumps complete all workwear wardrobes. But if you really want your footwear to turn heads this summer, look for black on white and vice versa combinations. For sensible shoe lovers, there are plenty of cute flats available, or for the serious height addicts, there are a plethora of sky-high heels starting to hit the shops now.
