At long last it feels like summer has started. While enjoying the heavenly rays beaming down on us over Labour Weekend we got thinking about overhauling our beauty regimes for summer. As tights and boots are thrown to the back of the wardrobe, bare skin begins to make an appearance and garments in cheerful summer colours replace drab and dull winter hues. It's only fair that you do your new summer outfits justice by revitalising your beauty regime, too.

Tan fan
The thought of exposing legs which have been kept under wraps with tights all winter long can be somewhat daunting. As much as we love spending time in the sun, there's only one safe way to tan. It's the right time to pluck up some courage, pull out the bottle and start faking it. Our summer must-have is the Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream. Aptly named, the cream is delicious and feels incredible when applied. Unlike many other self tanners, it doesn't have that distinct fake tan smell about it and it's full of nurturing cocoa bean extract which pampers the skin. Shower, exfoliate, apply and overnight you'll be transformed into a bronzed beauty. Just make sure you remember the golden rules - don't get dressed until the self-tanner is completely dry, and wash your hands thoroughly after application (or you'll wake up with orange hands).
Happy rays

Come summer, it's inevitable we'll all be spending time under the sun. Experts believe we're slowly starting to get the sun-safe message, even though alarmingly New Zealand has the highest rate of melanoma in the world. So, when you head out into the heat make sure your beauty regime is working in your favour to keep you safe. Protecting your skin from sun damage is easier than it's ever been, thanks to an increasing number of moisturisers, foundations and even lipsticks containing SPF. Layering products with different SPF factors isn't going to increase your protection against the sun; you'll be protected only to the level of the one with the highest SPF. Leaving the house without a moisturiser with SPF in it is a huge no-no so make it a priority every morning. And when you hit the beach make sunscreen your best friend, don't forget to reapply after swimming and exercising.
Hothead
Now you're bronzed and covered from head to toe in sunscreen it's time to pay some attention to your tresses. The elements of summer (UV rays, chlorine and salt water) can wreak havoc on our precious locks, especially those which are damaged from coloured and heat styling. Thankfully, each summer Kerastase Paris releases their Soleil Collection to care for hair over summer. The range includes products to repair hair before, during and after sun exposure. Make sure you throw the Aqua-Seal in your beach bag before you leave home to ensure hair is protected from water and sun all day long.
