Now that summer is well and truly on its way out and autumn is on its way in, we're starting to think about how we can reinvent our look for the cold season.
With a list as long as our arms of winter wardrobe essentials already compiled, we're starting to turn
our attention to our tresses.
Though we all love sky-high heels and luxury handbags, come winter, lustrous locks are going to be a girl's best friend.
Give an edge to your look
This season, shades of brown are cooled down with frosted chestnut and violet hues, while contrasting highlights of beige and pearl are sure to turn heads. To makeover long locks, think a little bit edgy and a little bit structural.
Blunt layers will emphasise your new hair colour. When it comes to ravishing red, muted hues of copper take over. Shades with a hint of deep plum give hair colour more depth when partnered with shimmering copper.
Blonds are more natural this season, with a soft, warm and slightly worn feel. Think gentle caramels and strawberry hues.
Layering enhances natural texture
If you had enough of blow-drying and styling your long hair through the summer months, winter is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and chop off your locks.
Short hair doesn't mean sacrificing your femininity - just keep things soft and make sure the stylist emphasises your natural texture with lots of layers.
And if you're happy with your existing colour and style, or not quite ready for a drastic change but still want your tresses to look on trend with the right products and styling tools, it's possible to recreate the glamour of the world of high fashion in the comfort of your own home.
Keep it simple but sophisticated
This season, most of our favourite looks are incredibly simple yet sophisticated. The Simply You team has fallen in love with the romantic, soft, textural up-dos that we've seen gracing the runways lately.
Think delicate side partings and an almost unfinished, even slightly messy look. Simply side-part hair, softly pull back into a loose bun and gradually pull forward sections to frame your face.
If you're looking for something sleeker, stick with the side part but keep things slick and tidy with impeccable tresses pulled back into a straightened ponytail.
Experiment to work out what works for you and what doesn't. And remember, investing in a great cut and colour and styling your hair is one of the quickest ways to update your look this winter.
