Even though many of us are now heading back to work, it doesn't mean summer is over, and it definitely doesn't mean it's time to put away those kaftans yet. February often brings some of the country's finest weather, and is often a slightly quieter time to head away somewhere special.
A weekend camping
The rule of thumb, no matter where you are heading, is to try your best to pack lightly.
If you are going camping, you don't want to leave belongings in your car and nor do you want to leave yourself little room to move in the tent just because your wardrobe has been temporarily relocated there.
If you are camping, you will be exposed to the elements. Prepare for the sun, the cold and the rain.
And don't take anything special away with you that you wouldn't want to risk ruining. Going camping does not have to mean sacrificing your style, as you should be able to compensate with basic essentials.
Keep things simple and sensible and you'll be more than adequately prepared.
A weekend by the water
Spending a luxurious weekend by the pool or by the beach shouldn't really take too much packing preparation.
If your fingers are crossed for lots of summer sun, then swimsuits, sandals and kaftans are the necessary prerequisites for a good weekend away.
If you are planning to spend substantial time under the sun's rays then it's important to think about your sun-safe, yet fashionable, accessories and your beauty regime.
Big-brimmed sunhats are a must, as are sunglasses. Once you've got your head and your eyes sorted for protection it's time to think about your skin. Sunscreen is an absolute necessity and it's also a good idea to take along some after-sun skincare, too.
If you take precautionary steps in the sun then it's unlikely you will get burned, but after-sun skincare is still perfect for nurturing skin after exposure to the elements. Pack all your beauty regime necessities and sun-safe accessories with some bright and fun summer wardrobe essentials, and you'll be all set for a weekend by the water.
A romantic weekend away
Maybe you're one of the lucky ones and your partner has decided to surprise you with a romantic weekend away to a secret destination.
If so, make sure you ask for some clues as to where it is you may be heading, so you know what to pack.
If the vibe of the weekend is a romantic one, then pack your suitcase accordingly. Pretty, floral summer dresses for daywear and perhaps something slightly more seductive for a romantic meal in the evening.
If you get the impression he's really treating you and taking you somewhere extra special, be prepared outfit wise. Put the extra effort into your beauty regime too. Whereas on a camping trip you can get away with minimal make-up, a treat somewhere special deserves a little touch of glamour.
