Here at Simply You we are demystifying body shapes and embracing our womanly curves. It's time to accept that we're not all born to be catwalk models and acknowledge all shapes and sizes have their assets. Knowing how to work with what you've got by dressing for your body shape will boost your confidence and have you looking your best.
Step off the scales
In the world of fashion, thin may appear to always be in, however, in this issue we discover that the numbers that flick up once we hop on the dreaded scales is not the be-all and end-all. In fact, being thin doesn't always equal healthy. Sometimes it's hard when we are being constantly bombarded by images of celebrities and models who appear to be withering away into nothing. However, many experts believe that instead of getting fixated on the numbers on the scales, we should be focusing on the lifestyle we lead and using this as a key to gauge how healthy we are. Factors like a healthy balanced diet and regular exercise - as well as whether you smoke or drink and how high your stress levels are - should all be taken into consideration. So this winter we're stepping off the scales, leading a healthy lifestyle and making the most of our womanly figures.
Select wisely
To really make the most of our feminine form, we're learning to dress for our body shapes. We're all guilty at times of getting sucked in to all the latest trends regardless of whether they actually suit us. We're not all born the same, and not all trends we see on the catwalk or in magazine editorials are going to suit everyone. Instead, be selective and go to town with clothes that suit; don't get disheartened by the ones that don't. Invest in pieces that complement your shape, as they will transcend trends and become staple items in your wardrobe season after season.
Shape up

The first step for dressing for your shape is discovering which of the five shapes you are - apple, hourglass, rectangle, V-shape or pear.
To do this, stop being afraid of the mirror and, instead, make it your best friend. In this winter's issue we've delved into each of the five shapes in detail, and matched them all up with individual style advice. We've also spoken to experts The Carpenters Daughter, Repertoire and Triumph, who have given us their best tips and tricks on dressing for your shape. It's time to shake off those hindering body issues, and start flaunting and flattering your figure.
