Forty-eight Northland high school bands, duos and solo artists will start out on the quest for musical stardom with the regional heats of a national high school musical contest.
The Northland regional heats of Smokefreerockquest are being held at Forum North on Sunday from 12.30pm, with budding musicians competing for
tens of thousands of dollars' worth of prizes and musical glory.
Smokefreerockquest, now in its 25th year, is the country's biggest musical search, with more than 700 high school acts taking part this year.
Vying for a place in the Northland regional final, which will be held in July, are:
