The Bads are back with a new song.

Shelter Love is an increasingly intense alternative rock number from the duo, showcasing Dianne Swann's spooky vocals alongside Brett Adams' eclectic instrumentation.

It's the first track from the album Losing Heroes, due July 7, and in my mind should appeal to fans hanging out for the forthcoming new album from The National.

The Bad's 2013 album Travel Light gained critical acclaim, including 5 star reviews in the New Zealand Herald's TimeOut and the Herald On Sunday.

Put some warmth in your winter with the Modern Māori Quartet's debut single Shine.

Between the strumming of the acoustic guitar and the lads' harmonies, it's a positively smile-inducing number.

It's the first single from their debut album That's Us! - 12 tracks of original waiata, due in September.

The band says Shine is a song that celebrates children.

It was written specifically for Fran Kora's daughter Coco and is a father's message to his child, encouraging her to dream big and pursue any path her heart desires.

An indoor music festival at K Road venues on July 1 will feature 21 New Zealand acts across a range of genres.

The inaugural Madcap Madness Festival will take place at Whammy, Backroom and Wine Cellar with ticket numbers restricted to 400.

The full line-up is: Blaze the Emperor, Caitlin Blake, Diamante Hoops, Eastern Bloc, Gotenks (Eno & Totems), Ill Baz, Illa, Kenny Slade, Kieran Tahir, Montell 2099, NASH, NXVA, Peach Milk, Raiza Biza, Rell the DJ, Shiraz & LSJ, SoccerPractise, Villette and Water Falls.

Organisers say Madcap Madness is about discovering new music and supporting artists you're already following.

The Miltones' self-titled debut album is just weeks away.

Produced by Ben Edwards, the record is said to reveal the band's rich love for 70s American rock with influences from Springsteen to Fleetwood Mac.

The release on June 16 coincides with the first date of their national tour. Kicking off at the Leigh Sawmill Cafe, they'll then head to venues in Whangarei, Hamilton, Tauranga and Napier among others.

Tickets and show details from Under the Radar.

Glass Vaults

Wellington psych-pop outfit Glass Vaults are set to tour in support of their album The New Happy.

The gigs will be their first public performances in more than a year.

They play Auckland's Golden Dawn on June 30 with support from Womb, before heading to Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
