Young Auckland musicians and singers, supported by Opera North, have attracted a full house for their concert at Capitaine Bougainville Theatre, Forum North, tomorrow.
The Whangarei singers are joining the Auckland Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Auckland Youth Choir in a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony - his only choral
symphony - and take part in a repeat performance in the Auckland Town Hall the next day.
About 20 Opera North singers are involved in the performance, making a total of about 130 on the stage.
AYC selected its collaborators in the choral piece in various locations by plucking names out of the hat of the NZ Choral Federation's listings.
Opera North founder and director Joan Kennaway said the invitation came right out of the blue.
