Hopefully, summer isn't about to leave us any time soon, but once the sales are over new season stock will be arriving in store and it will be time to start thinking about those key trans-seasonal pieces which will see us through autumn.
It's not only autumn and spring requiring trans-seasonal
pieces be put to good use, however.
Cooler summer evenings can leave you wishing you'd taken something slightly warmer to slip on. Select the right pieces and they'll become wardrobe staples year-round - rain, hail or shine.
Cover-ups
A girl can never own too many cardigans or lightweight jackets. Both pieces come in use, no matter what the weather may be. The highly versatile cardigan can be paired with almost anything and can be dressed both up and down, perfect for both workwear and weekend wear. A tailored lightweight jacket, on the other hand, can add that touch of sophistication to an outfit. Cute, cropped lightweight jackets are perfect for summer and autumn. Choosing classic cuts and colours will ensure that these pieces can be worn season after season, regardless of what the trends may be.
In tune

Tunics are another key piece that should be in abundance in your wardrobe - they're a quick and reliable fashion fix even with our unpredictable weather. When it's warm and sunny, bare your legs; when it starts to get a little nippy, just pop on a pair of tights. As winter rolls around, tunics make the perfect pieces for layering. Think riding boots, chunky knits and opaques to keep you warm as toast. The right tunic can even be worn over skinny-leg jeans or pants - just make sure that you choose flowing fabrics to avoid looking boxy.

Fancy pants

We are spoilt for the variety of styles and different fabrics available these days so when it comes to pants, think outside the square. Leggings can be worn with almost anything and will instantly update your look and extend the life of garments you'd usually only wear during the warmer months.
Pants in lightweight fabrics will also take you anywhere you want to go. Once again, choose classic elegant styles and colours, if you want to make the piece one of your wardrobe essentials. Buying styles that enhance and flatter your figure will ensure you get maximum wear out of them.
Put it all together
Plan ahead now so that when summer's over you will be prepared to dress for the weather. When autumn does roll around, you'll be able to team the trans-seasonal pieces together for a glamorous look.
The best thing about stocking up on trans-seasonal pieces now is that you're able to extend the wear you get out of your beautiful summer dresses and other pieces that you're just not ready to put away for another year.
