You could be forgiven for thinking there may be a large fire in the Dargaville area this weekend - but rest assured, Dargaville is not burning down.
Over 60 firefighters and instructors from fire brigades throughout the north are participating in the Bi-annual Northland Fire Brigades Sub-Association Fire Camp. The
camps runs all through Saturday, ending at lunchtime on Sunday
Ten teams of six firefighters will be undertaking various drill regimes such as a hazardous substance spill at Silver Fern, hi-angle rescue and confined space rescue at the Old Dairy Factory, car crashes involving logging trucks and an LPG pump station, as well as an aircraft crash at the local airfield.
Teams will also be out and about installing smoke alarms into homes and providing valuable fire safety advice in the Avenues area of Dargaville.
All teams will participate in each discipline, rotating around the various scenes.
