Anna Coddington.

Anna Coddington.

Luck/Time is the third album from Anna Coddington and it features a few previously released singles including the beautiful and tender lead-off track Bird In Hand and Make You Mine.

Both of those compositions were short listed for the APRA Silver Scrolls. Indeed Bird In Hand enhanced by the synth bass and string arrangement from S.J. Donnelly provides another emotive boost with the duo performance of violin and viola.

In more reggae tones, Release Me features loops and bass-fuelled rhythms encouraging the sweet vocals of Coddington and guest Julia Deans.

And while the differing genres of music make for a refreshing and upfront sound, sometimes the message in the music is far deeper as revealed on the lyrical Apples - "I know it's true, you see my face with every cut your finger makes in the fruit as in the flesh".

In more harmonic tones, Falling Fast is especially memorable with its tremelo-styled guitar lines and the rich backing vocals from the warm trio of Coddington, Deans and Tama Waipara.

While Too Far Gone has a sassy vibe, the title track is poignant and tender. It does not take long before the impressive songs and deliveries on this album become bright, melodic, warm friends.

Luck/Time is Anna Coddington's finest hour.
