Visitors to England's largest wine estate will soon be able to learn about brewing ale as well as making wine.
The Surrey Hills Brewery has relocated to the Denbies estate in Surrey in south-east England. Surrey Hills is a microbrewery which produces traditional real ales including the award-winning Shere Drop and
Ranmore Ale.
From Easter the Denbies and Surrey Hills Brewery Grape and Grain Tour, led by a Surrey Hills master brewer, will teach visitors about the brewing process. The tour will include a tasting of Surrey Hills' two best-selling ales along with a special seasonal guest beer. The 50-minute tour will take place in Denbies' winery building.
Visitors can also learn about wine on Denbies' Classic Winery Tour available all year round, and a vineyard tour available March to October. The estate has a wine and gift shop, and a kitchen garden farm shop. Denbies Wine Estate has two restaurants, the indoor Garden Conservatory and the Gallery Restaurant. The visitor centre also hosts the Surrey Performing Arts Library which includes the Vaughan Williams exhibition.
The vineyard visitor centre, shops and restaurants are open daily all year, 9.30am-5.30pm April to October (Sunday, 10am-5.30pm), 9.30am-5pm, November to March (Sunday, 10am-5pm). The Grape and Grain Tour will cost £18 ($37.50) a person (£15.50 each for groups of 10 or more). The Classic Winery Tour costs £9.50 (£8 groups) and the Vineyard Train Tour £5.25 (£4.25 groups).www.visitbritain.com
