Long considered the domain of the overly pimply and socially awkward, role-playing games (RPGs) have always struggled to be taken seriously.
Dragon Age 2 shatters that perception with an offering that's more concerned with slaying action and
creating an entertaining world than one where you need to read a tome before you can figure out the rules.
The game starts with the player taking control of Hawke - a leader of a rag-tag band fleeing from their devastated homeland.
As it progresses, you and your crew enhance your skills and abilities, with the ultimate goal of toppling an evil regime.
The gameplay is a nice blend of tactics and action; sometimes you'll be able to charge in, while other instances need a more strategic tack.
However, the lack of variety can make some of the action a bit repetitive during long gaming sessions.
Graphically, it's a bit of a grab bag, while the environments and characters are of a high quality, there are a few moments that don't quite hit the mark.
RPG fans will be in sword-swinging heaven, but if you're not a fan of the genre you could find the pace a bit slow and the constant tweaking of characters a bit tedious.
