The Joneses
(M), Roadshow Entertainment
Here's a grand plan: hire the "perfect" family, kit them out in the latest and greatest products, inject them into an affluent neighbourhood and get them selling the clothes off their backs.
What a great idea. Wonder why it hasn't been tried before.
The Joneses are the "perfect"
family - to those looking on.
Team leader Kate Jones (Demi Moore) is the perfect hostess and leads the perfect life.
Her "husband" Steve (David Duchovny) is both charming with the ladies and an instant hit with the boys on the golf course.
The children - Jenn (Amber Heard) and Mick (Ben Hollingsworth) - are the coolest kids in school and everyone wants what they have.
The Joneses very quickly become a huge hit in the neighbourhood and the money comes rolling in with their burgeoning popularity.
While the "family" is all about charm to their new friends, in reality the Joneses are all about their sales figures and selling more and more.
What they can't allow themselves to do is lose track of their objectives by becoming personally involved with each other or their clients.
When the Joneses are at the height of their powers, the house of cards around them starts crumbling.
Death, and the resulting truth it draws out, threatens the secrecy that protects their sales mission.
The "family" members are forced to ask themselves whether life is more about the sale or normality.
The Joneses seems a touch too close to the truth to be dismissed. It throws an interesting light on the quest for a perfect life, at any cost.
