I guess it should be no surprise that an R18 film is going to test you in one way or another.
Piranha tests viewers in all sorts of ways - it definitely isn't material for the squeamish.
Just think of enlarged flesh-eating piranhas with very bad attitudes and mix them
with a bunch of crazy university students on a spring break.
The results are blood-thirsty to say the least.
An underwater tremor in Lake Victoria is the catalyst for the release of the prehistoric piranha.
A rift opens to a deep area that has played host to the angry little fish for thousands of years. When they emerge into Lake Victoria they find thousands of young and stupid students.
Sheriff Julie Forester (Elisabeth Shue) soon realises that something deadly in the lake is a threat to all who swim in it but she has trouble convincing the party-goers of the danger lurking beneath the surface.
Only when the blood starts to spill does the full calamity hit home.
In a particularly gory scene, bodies, blood and bits of limbs litter the water after a gigantic feeding frenzy.
The special effects crew must have worked overtime sorting these scenes out.
It's going to take some heroics if these creatures are to be stopped and the sheriff knows it is up to her to resolve this crisis.
