Two beautiful people - Holly Berenson (Katherine Heigl) and Eric Messer (Josh Duhamel) - were never meant to be a couple, until fate stepped in.
Holly and Eric know each other, but only because they have to.
Their friends, Peter and Alison Novack, are a couple with a young child - Sophie.
With Eric as Peter's best mate and Holly filling the same role for Alison, there is no escaping each other.
They tried the dating thing, very briefly, and vowed to never let that happen again.
Holly and Eric are quite firm in their desire to spend as little time as possible with each other - these opposites certainly don't attract.
Yet when tragedy strikes and Peter and Alison are killed in a motor accident Holly and Eric, as godparents, are asked to step up and take guardianship of Sophie.
Both have little idea of how to handle a child but they must put aside their personal feelings towards each other and make Sophie their top priority.
As their love for Sophie grows, so does their respect and affection for each other.
Holly and Eric must work out whether they can put their old lives, loves and work aside and become a family.
Heigl is the modern-day queen of the rom-com and this is prime fodder for her.
On the surface, Life As We Know It is rather lightweight. But dig a little deeper and there is a fun movie and entertaining story to enjoy.
