Avatar Collector's Edition
(M) Roadshow Entertainment
You can imagine that in years to come film buffs will still be talking about Avatar.
The world created by producer, director and writer James Cameron on Pandora was truly spectacular and the 3D imagery he created was the best we had ever seen.
Even in 2D,
Cameron's story was breathtakingly different, whether you liked a little science fiction or not.
Pandora is a planet of the future that offers untold mineral riches. Mankind has set up a mining operation on the planet but the native Na'vi people stand in the way of the riches being harvested.
The mining company has a two-pronged approach to solving the problem - force and coercion.
For now they hope that coercion will convince the Na'vi to move away from the largest of the mineral deposits.
To get close to the Na'vi, Dr Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) has created an avatar programme where humans can come alive inside a Na'vi-like body and move and act like the natives.
Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is a broken former Marine.
He finds himself on Pandora almost by accident but his life will never be the same.
He becomes part of the Na'vi world and learns their ways and customs.
With the help of the tribal chief's daughter, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), he learns of their close kinship with nature and the spirit that lives in all creatures.
He realises he will never be able to shift the tribe so a military assault is ordered and Jake must decide where his allegiances lie.
If the Na'vi are going to survive they will have to overcome a military firefight.
The many millions of Avatar fans throughout the world now have the opportunity to get their hands on a special extended collector's edition of the movie.
The three-disc set contains the original movie, the theatrical re-release cut (with an extra eight minutes) plus the exclusive extended cut (extra 16 minutes) and a final disc with a lot of fascinating material on how Avatar was created and brought to the cinemas.
Let the Na'vi come alive again.
